L’album “Ella Swings Brightly with Nelson” del 1961 vede la collaborazione di Ella Fitzgerald con il grande direttore d'orchestra e arrangiatore Nelson Riddle. In questa nuova edizione sono stati inclusi come bonus altri sette brani registrati nel corso della stessa sessione, ma non pubblicati sull’Lp originale, e due brani tratti dalla loro prima collaborazione del 1959 (Fitzgerald Sings the George and Ira Gershwin Song Book) che non furono pubblicati in quell'album. Grazie a Ella Swings Brightly with Nelson, la Fitzgerald vinse un Grammy Award come “Best Female Vocal Performance.”.
