Dopo la tragica morte del contrabbassista Scott LaFaro in un incidente d’auto nel Luglio del 1961, Bill Evans era devastato e per diversi mesi non volle tornare a suonare né in studio né dal vivo. Evans tornò in studio con un nuovo trio solo l’anno successivo per la registrazione dell’album “Moonbeams” (Riverside RLP9428) qui riproposto. L’album lo vede affiancato da Chuck Israels al contrabbasso e Paul Motian alla batteria. come bonus di questa nuova edizione è stato aggiunto il brano “Ev’rything I Love” registrato nel corso della stessa sessione, ma non apparso sull’LP originale.
