La collaborazione di Miles Davis con il sassofonista tenore John Coltrane tra il 1955 e il 1961 ha prodotto alcune delle registrazioni più belle della storia del jazz. Questo cofanetto da 4 vinili raccoglie tutte le registrazioni realizzate dal quintetto di Davis (con anche Red Garland al piano, Paul Chambers al basso e Philly Joe Jones alla batteria) l’11 maggio e il 26 ottobre 1956. Quelle fantastiche sessioni hanno prodotto la musica pubblicata sugli album: Cookin’ (Prestige PRLP 7094), Workin’ (Prestige PRLP 7166), Relaxin’ (Prestige PRLP 7129) e Steamin’ (Prestige PRLP 7200). Come bonus, questo set include anche il contenuto completo dell’album “Miles” (Prestige PRLP 7014).
