Sebbene Gerry Mulligan abbia collaborato molto con Art Farmer o Bob Brookmeyer, il suo sestetto con entrambi in prima linea insieme al suo sax baritono è durato solo un paio d'anni e ha prodotto solo due album in studio, entrambi presentati nella loro interezza su questo CD: “Night Lights” e “Butterfly with Hiccups”. Un arrangiamento per band più ampio di "Night Lights" e una lettura dal vivo di "The Ant Hill" dello stesso sestetto sono stati aggiunti qui come bonus.
