Questo doppio cd riunisce tre album completi del 1956 caratterizzati dal sassofonista John Coltrane impegnato in una serie di sessioni guidate dal contrabbassista Paul Chambers. Queste registrazioni sono state originariamente pubblicate sugli album “Chambers' Music” (Jazz West LP7), “Whims of Chambers” (Blue Note BLP1534) e “High Step” (Transition LP30/Blue Note BN-LA451). Come bonus è stato aggiunto l’album integrale “Informal Jazz” (Prestige LP7043) di Elmo Hope che vede la partecipazione sia di Coltrane che di Chambers. Come ulteriore bonus è stato aggiunto il brano “Tenor Madness”, tratto dall’omonimo classico di Sonny Rollins, che vede nuovamente Coltrane accompagnato da Chambers al contrabbasso.
