Questo doppio CD contiene alcune delle registrazioni che hanno segnato il debutto della grande Nina Simone, inserite per la prima volta in un’unica raccolta. Tra questi tesori ve ne sono alcuni nascosti, come le sue prime registrazioni realizzate a Filadelfia nel 1955 e ad Atlantic City nel 1956, la seconda delle quali pubblicata originariamente su un lp dal titolo “Starring Nina Simone” (Spin-O-Rama - M 130). Inclusi in questa raccolta vi sono anche quattro singoli registrati per l’etichetta Colpix e varie trasmissioni e registrazioni dal vivo dello stesso periodo, tra cui dodici tracce che appaiono qui su CD per la prima volta in assoluto.
