Questo LP contiene uno dei più introvabili album di Hooker, “The Folk Lore of John Lee Hooker”– tesoro nascosto originariamente pubblicato dall'etichetta Vee Jay nel 1961, e da molto tempo non disponibile in vinile. L'album unisce brani acustici come “Tupelo”e “The Hobo”(entrambi registrati dal vivo al Newport Folk Festival nel 1960, con il prezioso accompagnamento del bassista Bill Lee) con tracce elettriche come “I’m Mad Again”, I’m Going Upstairs”e “Hard-Headed Woman”. Hooker è accompagnato da una band al completo con il grande Jimmy Reed alla chitarra. Questa LP in vinile 180 grammi include anche 2 bonus tracks dello stesso periodo: “You’ve Taken My Woman”e il grande “Send Me Your Pillow”– nella quale è accompagnato dai The Funk Brothers (la band da studio della Motown), James Jamerson, Joe Hunter, Benny Benjamin, Henry Cosby, e Andrew “Mike”Terry.
