Questo cd ripropone l'intero concerto del 1962 di Charles Mingus al Town Hall di New York, originariamente pubblicato come “Charles Mingus: Town Hall Concert” (United Artists UAJ14024). Questo album è la testimonianza di una performance controversa che ha ricevuto recensioni discordanti e che vede Mingus impegnato nell’interpretazione di composizioni che solo raramente avrebbe registrare in altre occasioni. La band è formata da straordinari jazzisti tra cui Clark Terry, Eric Dolphy, Charles McPherson, Charlie Mariano, Zoot Sims, Britt Woodman, Jimmy Cleveland, Pepper Adams, Les Spann, Jaki Byard e Toshiko Akiyoshi. Come un bonus è stata aggiunta la versione in studio di "Peggy Skylight Blue".
