Questa pubblicazione raccoglie due album integrali che mostrano il talenti impareggiabile del sassofonista Art Pepper: “Art Pepper Meets the Rhythm Section” (Contemporary S7532) e “The Marty Paich Quartet featuring Art Pepper” (Tampa T1014). Nel primo album Pepper è accompagnato dalla leggendaria sezione ritmica di Miles Davis formata da Red Garland al piano, Paul Chambers al contrabbasso e Philly Joe Jones alla batteria. Il secondo album vede invece Pepper come membro del quartetto del pianista Marty Paich con Buddy Clark al contrabbasso e Frank Capp alla batteria.
