Questo cd propone l’album di debutto della grande cantante Shirley Horn: Embers and Ashes (Stere-O-Craft RTS 16/Hi-Life LP HL-55) del 1960. Inoltre, come bonus, è stato un altro album completo, “Where Are You Going” (Perception PLP-31) del 1972, in cui Shirley Horn compare sia nelle vesti di cantante che di pianista. Come ulteriore bonus una sua straordinaria interpretazione del brano "A Foggy Day" di George Gershwin, in cui la cantante è affiancata dal violinista Stuff Smith.
