Alla fine del 1956, Miles Davis decise di sciogliere il suo quintetto con John Coltrane e accettò un'offerta per un tour in Europa con una formazione chiamata “Birdland All Stars”, che comprendeva anche Lester Young e il Modern Jazz Quartet. Questo LP presenta la musica registrata durante quel tour.
