Questo cd presenta l’album originale “Miles Davis and the Modern Jazz Giants” (Prestige PR 7150), che vede il leggendario trombettista affiancato dal pianista Thelonious Monk, dal vibrafonista Milt Jackson, dal contrabbassista Percy Heath e dal batterista Kenny Clarke. Al gruppo si unisce anche John Coltrane per una versione di “Round Midnight”. Come bonus sono stati aggiunti due brani che completano la sessione e altri due brani registrati dal vivo al Newport Jazz Festival del 1955 in cui Davis è affiancato da Gerry Mulligan, Zoot Sims e Thelonious Monk.
