Questo album ripropone l’album “Ellington Indigos”, più due rare registrazioni tratte dalle stesse sessioni (ma non apparse sull’ LP originale) e tutte le alternate takes. Come le liner notes originali di questo album affermavano chiaramente, l'orchestra di Duke Ellington non solo si è esibita nelle più prestigiose sale da concerto – presentando lunghe suite da ascoltare col comfort di una poltrona di un lussuoso teatro – ma è stata anche una leggendaria “orchestra da ballo”, abituata a suonare versioni molto originali dei più celebri standard così come le numerose composizioni del suo leader. Le riletture del duca, e del suo collaboratore di lunga data Billy Strayhorn, di noti brani come "Willow Weep for Me", "Tenderly" e "Dancing in the Dark" sono sempre un entusiasmante esperienza di ascolto.
